Lunt, 27, had been linked with a possible return to Crewe, after falling out of the Owls first-team picture.

First-team coach Steve Holland told Crewe's website: "I would like to give our own players a chance.

"I'd rather do that then bring someone on a short-term loan, although we know how influential Kenny is."
