Highly-rated teenager Billy Jones is poised to leave Crewe in January after he was put on the transfer list. The 19-year-old defender's contract runs out at the end of the season and he has rejected a new deal.
Alex boss Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke: "It was no surprise the directors decided to do what they've done and I'd expect Billy to have expected it."
Cardiff are thought to be leading the chase for Jones, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.
