Crawley have failed in their efforts to sign Weymouth's free-scoring winger Michael Malcolm on loan.
Malcolm was one of five players made available by the Terras this month.
Reds manager Steve Evans told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "There was a circular with names on it. We made an enquiry, but it's passed us by."
He added: "If you were Michael Malcolm you would walk from Weymouth to Crawley! It's not to be and we'll concentrate on ourselves."
