Gary McSheffrey hopes for Coventry City starting role
McSheffrey scored 53 times for Coventry in his first spell at the club
Coventry City match-winner Gary McSheffrey hopes to have given boss Aidy Boothroyd a selection headache ahead of Saturday's trip to Hull.
The winger came off the bench to score the winner against Doncaster on Tuesday and admits there is strong competition for a place in the starting line-up.
"The manager has decisions to make. He has good wide men and a good midfield," he told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.
"He's got lots of options. When you get the opportunity you've got to take it."
The 28-year-old rejoined the Sky Blues from Birmingham City in the summer, having scored just once in the previous two seasons.
I've got a goal and answered a question and put myself back in the reckoning again which is all you can do

Tuesday's goal in the 2-1 victory over Rovers was McSheffrey's first in his second spell at the Ricoh Arena having returned on a free transfer in the summer after leaving Birmingham City.
"It's no secret that my last couple of years have been frustrating," he added. "It was just a nice feeling to finally break that duck. It was a long drought.
"I've come on, didn't really play well but at the end of the day I've got a goal and answered a question and put myself back in the reckoning again which is all you can do."
