Coventry draw with Baggies in front of legend Hill
Jimmy Hill managed Coventry from 1961-67
Coventry City drew 1-1 with West Brom at the Ricoh Arena in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday, with City legend Jimmy Hill watching on.
Gary McSheffrey gave the Sky Blues the lead thanks to his 14th-minute effort.
But the home side were unable to keep a seventh consecutive clean sheet with Ishmael Miller breaching Coventry's defence in the second half.
Former Sky Blues boss Hill, 82, was guest of honour and paraded on the pitch before the match.
Hill guided the club from the old Third Division to the First Division in the 1960s and he told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "It's been a fantastic day.
"How lucky I am still to be healthy enough to be able to come out with my old friends, particularly the players and see them again and imagine we're still young enough to play."
There is currently a bid to raise £150,000 to fund a statue of Hill to be erected outside the Ricoh Arena. Part of the ticket price from the Baggies friendly went to the appeal.
Speaking about the statue, Hill joked: "They'll have to put a nice long bit for my chin."
Coventry City take on Portsmouth in the first match of the season on Saturday, 7 August. Live commentary on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's FM frequencies and DAB starting from 1400 BST.
