Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has signed striker Clive Platt from his former club Colchester United on a one-year contract for a nominal fee.
The 32-year-old also has a one-year option and becomes the Sky Blues' seventh summer signing.
Boothroyd said: "Clive is one of the most under-rated players I have ever worked with."
Platt could play his first game for Coventry in Saturday's friendly at home to West Brom.
The striker, who has also played for MK Dons, Peterborough, Notts County, Rochdale and Walsall, is five short of 100 league goals in his career.
Boothroyd has also praised his chairman Ray Ranson for continuing to support his efforts to strengthen his squad.
"He's getting me everything I want, I'm starting to get a little bit worried to be honest," Boothroyd joked to BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.
"I'm tempted to up what I ask for, but I don't think he'd have that.
"I have to say so far he's been absolutely fantastic."
