Bell looks ahead to next season

Coventry City winger David Bell has said he hopes to make a big impact next season after scoring the winner against Doncaster Rovers.

Bell netted his first goal of the season in spectacular style in the 1-0 win and admitted his season has been hampered by an ankle injury.

"I need an operation on it," he told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

"Next year's going to be a big year for me and I'm just looking forward to getting back fighting fit."

He continued: "I've got torn ligaments and a bit of floating bone in there so basically I just need a flush out and a clear out just to get that sorted."

Bell picked up the injury during pre-season with his former club Norwich City but has still managed to feature in every Championship match since making the switch from Carrow Road.

With Coventry nine points clear of the relegation zone, the 25-year-old hopes to go under the knife once the club are safe and unable to make the play-offs.

"Failing that if we are doing well and there's a chance we can get into the play-offs I'll just have to get it done in the close season and come back fitter than ever.

"This season I missed a lot of pre-season and the first eight or nine games so I've always been playing catch-up.

"I've really not been training much with [matches on] Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday.

"I need one or two days, sometimes three, for my ankle to settle down after a game."
