McSheffrey scored 53 goals for the Sky Blues before joining Birmingham
Coventry City boss Chris Coleman has confirmed he is interested in bringing Gary McSheffrey back to the club.
The former Sky Blues forward, now with Birmingham, is one of several potential targets for when the transfer window reopens in January.
Coleman told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire: "Gary's been on our radar for some time. He's an ex-Coventry boy and a big fans' favourite."
McSheffrey, 26, is currently sidelined by a knee injury.
With Coventry currently 17th in the Championship, five points off both the play-off and relegation zones, Coleman said he was keen to strengthen his squad and had plenty of targets in mind.
"If I'm honest I haven't got a list of players, I've got lists of players and that would be the same if we were top or bottom of the league", added Coleman.
"We have to be pro-active and we've got a lot of players on our radar."
