Cambridge unhappy at Simpson deal
Coventry City
Cambridge United chairman Lee Power has slammed the outcome of a transfer tribunal which ordered Coventry City to pay 40,000 for striker Robbie Simpson.

The fee could rise to 130,000 based on appearances, but Power was unhappy with the deal which gives the U's only a 5% sell-on clause.

"I've never heard of such a low figure and we're just flabbergasted," Power told his club's website.

"The up-front payment and sell-on clause is nothing short of disgraceful.

Simpson, 22, scored 17 goals for Cambridge in last season's Conference but rejected the offer of a new deal to join the Sky Blues.

Power added: "You see players moving in the Premiership for millions and still getting a 15-20% sell-on.

"This is a shambles and if this is the way forward in football then football at lower levels is doomed."
