Scott Shearer signed a two-year deal with Coventry |
Coventry goalkeeper coach Alan Hodgkinson has predicted great future for their new signing Scott Shearer. The 23-year-old Shearer has been signed by Highfield Road boss Gary McAllister from Scottish Third Division Albion Rovers on a two-year deal.
Hodgkinson, who won five England caps in the 1950s and 60s, believes the Sky Blues' latest newcomer could make a huge impact on the English First Division.

"He's an outstanding prospect, a big and tall lad who is very lithe, agile and also very confident," said Hodgkinson. "It won't be a problem for him to play at this level because if you have got the attributes to be a good keeper you can transfer them to a higher level and Scott has those attributes.
"I have a lot of faith in him and I know he's going to be a success here at Coventry."
Shearer impressed Hodgkinson during a trial earlier this year and manager Gary McAllister has moved to beat off competition from several other teams.
