Colchester United's Pat Baldwin in fans plea

Colchester United defender Pat Baldwin believes that his team should receive better backing from supporters.

The U's were booed off by some fans on Saturday after edging past non-league Swindon Supermarine in the FA Cup.

Baldwin told BBC Essex: "We're at home, simple as that and we want to have support. The crowd getting on our back doesn't help matters.

"We know there are areas we can improve on, but I think we need a little bit more support."

The U's, seventh in League One, won 1-0 thanks to David Mooney's first-half strike, surviving a couple of scares after the break to book a third round trip to Championship side Swansea City.

Baldwin returned to the Colchester first team last week after two months out with an ankle injury.
