Grays Athletic have confirmed their interest in striker Jamie Guy after his contract with Colchester United was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 22-year-old, who has been on loan at Port Vale this season, is moving on after five years with the U's.

He made 59 appearances for Colchester, with 53 of them as substitute, scoring just three goals.

"We're talking to Jamie at the moment but it's early days," Grays boss Julian Dicks told BBC Essex.

Guy has also had loan spells during his career with Ebbsfleet, Cambridge, Oxford and Dagenham & Redbridge.

Dicks added: "He's the kind of player I like - one who's strong and get stuck in.

"I've had far too many players here who don't want to work hard and don't want to tackle and you can't play football like that."
