Colchester United's latest signing Joel Thomas is promising to make the most of his chance to play English football.
The French striker moved from Hamilton for £125,000 despite the fact he had only scored one goal for the Scottish Premier League side.
"I'm going to work hard for this and will assess my performance after every training session and every game," Thomas told BBC Essex.
"I have always wanted to play in England," he added.
The 22 year-old was expecting his Hamilton team mate Richard Offiong to join him at Colchester, but Offiong did not show up.
"I don't know what happened with Richard," Thomas said.
"We were waiting for the medical and he just didn't arrive."
The former Bordeaux forward has signed a three year contract with Colchester and is keen to prove himself.
"When you sign for 3 years you must start well from the beginning, you can't take it easy," he said.
