Symons last match with Colchester ended in a 4-3 defeat
Former Colchester United caretaker manager Kit Symons said the club have much to look forward to.
Symons oversaw the U's 4-3 defeat to Cheltenham on Saturday in his final game in charge before handing over the reigns to new boss Paul Lambert.
"He is a lucky man, he's come in and inherited a good squad of players and an excellent club, so I wish them all the best," Symons told BBC Essex.
Symons has now left the League One strugglers after five games in charge.
He guided the Essex side to two wins following the departure of Geraint Williams in September.
Despite losing his final game in such dramatic fashion and not getting the manager's job full-time, Symons said he would remain positive.
"In my playing career I had lots of ups and downs and I'm sure [I will] in my managerial career," he said.
"I've now had a couple of spells as caretaker and thoroughly enjoyed it.
"It certainly wouldn't dampen my spirit immediately after defeat you're not in the best of spirits, but you need to dust yourself down, pick yourself up and crack on."
