Gillespie has scored three goals in three starts for the U's

Colchester United's record signing Steven Gillespie has spoken of his frustrating start to the season.

The 23-year-old striker has been sidelined by a hamstring injury, just days after overcoming a thigh strain.

Gillespie has bagged three goals from as many games, but he admitted it has been a difficult time.

"I've got a couple of goals and felt my form was getting better in the Ipswich game. Now unfortunately I've got this setback," he told BBC Essex.

"But hopefully I can move on. Sure it's not a good time for me, but hopefully we'll get this out the way and not miss a game for the rest of the season."
