Anthony Grant's 88th-minute winner earned Southend a thrilling victory away to Crewe.
Dougie Freedman gave the visitors the lead on three minutes, which was soon doubled by an own goal from Julien Baudet on 21 minutes.
But Michael O'Connor pulled a goal back with a deflected strike before Tom Pope levelled the score on 41 minutes.
Calvin Zola gave Crewe the lead on 66 minutes, but Freedman netted his second to level before Grant's late winner.
Southend boss Steve Tilson told BBC Essex : "We haven't had a 0-0 for 73 or 74 games now. "If you could predict you were going to win 4-3 every game I'd take that over a 1-0 every time."
