Colchester have made Tottenham midfielder Johnnie Jackson their second signing of the close season. The move represents the 23-year-old's second spell with the U's, after he played eight games for the club during a two-month loan period in 2003.
Jackson has subsequently been on loan at Coventry, Watford and Derby County.
The attacking midfielder can also play at left-back and joins ex-Swindon striker Jamie Cureton as Colchester's second signing of the summer.
