Birmingham City have signed Colchester midfielder Neil Danns. Danns, 23, who scored 16 goals for the U's last term, has penned a three-year deal at City for an initial fee of �500,000 that could rise to �850,000.
He started his career as a trainee at Blackburn but was forced to drop down two divisions to get a first team spot with Colchester.
Danns told Birmingham's website: "I had a great time at Colchester and it kick-started my career."
He added: "But when a club the size of Birmingham come in for you, it's hard to say no."
Birmingham boss Steve Bruce said: "We are delighted to capture the services of such an exciting young player.
"He plays with tremendous commitment and will be a huge asset to our team."
