Former Scotland international defender Colin Hendry has been appointed the new manager of Clyde. The 51-times capped ex-Dundee, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City and Rangers player, 41, replaces Joe Miller who left the Bully Wee on 25 May.
Hendry told the club website: "Simply, coming here just felt right.
"I was impressed by the directors' honesty and openness and I had other options elsewhere, but I knew that this was the right choice."
Hendry also played for Coventry City and Bolton Wanderers, as well as loan spells at Preston North End and Blackpool, before he retired from playing.
His recruitment is a bold move by the Broadwood club.
The new manager, who captained Scotland during the 1998 World Cup in France, is looking forward to returning to his homeland.
He explained: "It was doubly pleasing to get a chance to manage in my own country so that is an added bonus.
"It is going to be a hectic time.
"It was a crossroads for my family, there were a lot of decisions to make as this job came out of the blue but it is fantastic to return.
"There will undoubtedly be a lot of work to be done as I gear myself up to working in the First Division."
The Cumbernauld outfit finished fifth in Division One last season, and Hendry is relishing the prospect of guiding his new side to a more positive new campaign.

"I understand the scale of the task in hand and will be ready for the new season.
"I can't wait to get working with the players," he continued.
"The directors have told me that due to our lack of resources Clyde are always one of the pundits' favourites for relegation.
"My arrival will not change that view. It will not be an easy job but I have learnt a lot from my first experience of management.
"I want us to play good football but equally I am under no illusions that I will be judged on results.
"My job is to progress the talent that is here at Broadwood and coach them to the next level.
"The job is about nurturing the talent and I will work as hard as I can to bring success to Clyde."
Hendry played a key role at Blackburn, where he won a Premiership medal in 1995 with Kenny Dalglish as manager.
In 1998, he signed for Rangers for �4m and helped them win a domestic treble in his first season at Ibrox.
Hendry was an immensely popular player at international level, despite not making his debut until the age of 27.
He moved into management, becoming boss at Blackpool in June 2004.
However, after a successful first season at Bloomfield Road, he left in November 2005, and was most recently a coach at Boston United.
