Chesterfield stadium moves closer

Chesterfield

Chesterfield's proposed new 13m stadium has moved a step closer after the land earmarked for the development was handed over to the club.

The planned 10,500-capacity stadium is part of a regeneration scheme of a 22-acre plot of land next to the A61.

Construction company Wilson Bowden Developments made the presentation to Spireites chairman Barrie Hubbard.

Chesterfield now expect next season to be their last at their current Saltergate home.

Hubbard told the club's website: "Transferring over the land for our new stadium is another significant step forward for Chesterfield Football Club and its supporters.

"After all these years we are now within sight of our end goal and look forward to finalizing everything so building work on our new football stadium can commence."
