Chesterfield have signed Sheffield Wednesday forward Luke Boden on a month-long loan and are close to signing free agent Val Teixeira.
Versatile Boden, 19, has played three times for the Owls this season.
Spireites manager Lee Richardson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "[Boden's versatility] is part of the attraction. He's a talented footballer."
Portuguese striker Teixeira, 31, is posed to sign a four-month deal, subject to international clearance.
He had come to the UK for a trial with Crystal Palace but was not offered a deal with the club.
Richardson said: "He gets to experience the English game and we can see if he should be in our longer-term plans."
The ex-Benfica Juniors player has spent most of his career in the United States.
If the move is approved, the former Rhode Island Stingrays player is expected to be in the Spireites' squad which will face Rochdale on Saturday alongside Boden.
