Yantorno spent last season with Scottish Premier side Hibernian
Chester City have cancelled midfield summer signing Fabian Yantorno's contract by mutual consent.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan was one of new City boss Mick Wadsworth's first signings after taking over in July, having played for him at Gretna.
But, although granted international clearance, he has not recovered from the knee injury that dogged him in pre-season and has flown home to Uruguay.
City are instead running the rule over another South American, Andreas Andro.
The left-side Argentinian midfielder, who scored in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Crewe Alexandra last week, played in another friendly against Macclesfield on Wednesday.
He has impressed, so we will look at him again over the next couple of weeks before making a decision on him

Space has been freed up on the pay roll by former Hibernian and Gretna midfielder Yantorno's departure.
And Wadsworth could still be in a position to bring in free agent Andro, who would become the first South American to play for Chester if he signs.
"He has impressed," said Wadsworth, "so we will look at him again over the next couple of weeks before making a decision on him."
Another player who figured in Wednesday's friendly is veteran striker Gregg Blundell, who stepped up his bid for match fitness by playing 70 minutes.
Blundell, 33, who finally signed his contract last week, has made cameo appearances in both of City's last two games, coming on as a second-half substitute.
