Chester consider administration

Chester City

Chester City owner Stephen Vaughan has confirmed that the club have considered the threat of entering administration.

Following relegation from the Football League for a second time in nine years, Vaughan told BBC Radio Merseyside: "We are looking at various options.

"One of these could be voluntary administration. But, at the moment, we are ruling nothing in and nothing out."

Conference chairman Brian Lee said: "It is our understanding that Chester are very close to administration."

Administration, voluntary or otherwise, would mean Chester starting next season with a punishment of minus 10 points or even worse.

The club are still subject to a transfer embargo and attendances at the Deva have plummeted alarmingly this season.

Following confirmation of City's relegation to the Blue Square Premier on Saturday, manager Mark Wright has reiterated his desire to remain in charge as long as Vaughan stays.
