Butler poised for Harrogate move

Chester City

Chester City defender Paul Butler could be on his way to Blue Square North side Harrogate Railway on loan.

Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside, City chief executive Bob Gray says they have received an offer for the 35-year-old and a possible deal is being looked at.

The approach from Harrogate Town will be discussed between the player and our manager Simon Davies," said Gray.

"If Paul Butler is amenable to the move, I would imagine we wouldn't stand in his way."

Butler, who has also played for Sunderland, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, has found it difficult to secure a place in the starting 11 this season and is keen for first-team football.

Gray continued: "Paul has a wealth of experience and obviously Harrogate would like him to join them and assist in their challenge for a place in Blue Square Premier."

City entertain Bury on Saturday at the Deva Stadium hoping to gain their second win of the season following their 5-1 victory over Barnet last week.
