Marley Watkins set for loan spell away from Cheltenham

Cheltenham Town boss Mark Yates has revealed he wants 19-year-old winger Marley Watkins to go out on loan.

Watkins has been an unused sub in each of the Robins' four league games so far this season and their Carling Cup exit.

"Marley needs a month, [maybe] two months of football with somebody and we're trying to sort that out," Yates told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"It would do him the world of good, we have got to sacrifice Marley being sat on my bench and get him some games."

He continued: "Only then after a run of 10 to 12 games will be see a massive benefit."

Getting Watkins out on loan could also slightly ease the pressure on Cheltenham's already tight budget, after the club signed Marlon Pack on a season-long loan deal from Portsmouth.
