Injuries require patience - Allen

Martin Allen
Allen takes Cheltenham to Hereford in League One on Saturday

Cheltenham manager Martin Allen says Shane Duff and Alex Russell will not be hurried back into first-team action.

Duff has played only one match under Allen because of an Achilles problem, and Russell has been out since early October with an ankle ligament injury.

Allen told BBC Gloucestershire: "Alex is spending a week at Lilleshall and Shane has trained but had a reaction.

"We've taken two steps forward with him and one step back but the consultant is happy. He just needs 10 days' rest."

"Shane had joined in and it was great to see him involved so he is more disappointed than anyone that he has taken a backward step, but that's all part of the process to get him fit again."
