Wright has been without a club since leaving the Blades |
Cheltenham Town caretaker boss Keith Downing has signed veteran left-back Alan Wright on non-contract terms. The 36-year-old was a free agent, having been without a club since leaving Sheffield United in the summer.
"Alan has signed non-contract because he wants to keep his options open," Downing told Cheltenham's website.
"He is considering an offer to play abroad, but at the moment we are helping each other out - we'll see where we get to in a couple of weeks."
Wright has made over 500 league appearances in spells with Blackpool, Blackburn, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Derby, Leeds, Cardiff, Doncaster and Nottingham Forest.
He is likely to go straight into the Robins side for Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Swindon, allowing regular left-back Lee Ridley to rest a knee problem.
