Addicks boss Phil Parkinson praises Davisson's courage
Parkinson's Charlton currently lie fifth in League One
Charlton manager Phil Parkinson has praised the courage of young midfielder Ben Davisson who beat a career threatening injury to win a contract.
Davisson, 18, from Hildenborough near Tonbridge is one of five second year scholars offered terms.
The midfielder suffered a double fracture of his right ankle at the start of the season which led to fears over his future.
Parkinson told BBC Radio Kent: "Ben's determination won him a contract."
The Addicks boss continued: "He has suffered numerous setbacks, including the debilitating effects of glandular fever. But he has put everything behind him and got on with the job of playing football.
"These setbacks have toughened him up mentally. We believe he has a lot to offer the club."
Davisson was spotted playing against Charlton during a trial match in Tonbridge.
He went on to score twice in six games for Charlton Reserves, including a brace against Southampton Reserves in April last year.
