Shelvey signs new Charlton deal

Jonjo Shelvey
Shelvey became Charlton's youngest ever player in April 2008

Charlton midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has agreed a one-year extension to his contract at The Valley.

The new deal means the 17-year-old will now stay with the League One club until at least 2012.

The England Under-17 international became Charlton's youngest player when he started against Barnsley in April 2008 aged 16 years and 59 days.

Shelvey, who has made 27 senior appearances, is also the club's youngest FA Cup and league goalscorer.
