Celtic have lost their appeal against a red card shown to James Forrest in the recent 1-1 draw at Hamilton.

The midfielder was sent off by referee Willie Collum on 49 minutes after catching David Buchanan with a late attempt at a blocking tackle.

The Scottish FA's review panel dismissed the claim for wrongful dismissal submitted by Celtic.

Forrest will now serve a one-match ban and will have 12 penalty points added to his disciplinary record.

The independent three-man panel consisted of a former referee, a former manager and a former player.

Meanwhile, the SFA's General Purposes Committee is to review comments made by manager Neil Lennon following Celtic's 2-0 defeat to Hearts in November.

The same committee issued a warning to the Celtic boss on Monday for remarks made after his side's defeat to Rangers in October and will now investigate Lennon's reflections on the loss at Tynecastle.

Speaking to BBC Scotland after the match Lennon said the officials "would probably have their story already" when asked about a denied penalty appeal and a red card issued to midfielder Joe Ledley.

Lennon should discover his fate on the latest charge next month.

Celtic are in the process of challenging a six-match touchline ban given to Lennon after he was sent to the stand during the defeat to Hearts.
