Celtic boss Tony Mowbray targets win over Aberdeen

Tony Mowbray wants his Celtic side to capitalise on any slip-ups in the title race

Tony Mowbray may shuffle his pack for Celtic's crucial league clash with Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday.

Celtic face a defensive headache with Glenn Loovens joining Jos Hoiveld, Darren O'Dea and Andreas Hinkel on the treatment table.

Mowbray's side, eight points behind leaders Rangers, will be looking to cut the gap when they face the Dons.

"For me it's all about us winning football games from this point in," the Celtic boss told his club website.

The 2-0 midweek win over Hearts, coupled with Rangers' draw with Motherwell, saw Celtic narrow the gap at the top of the table.

And Mowbray believes his side must keep winning while hoping Rangers slip up against Hibernian on Sunday.

"Somewhere along the lines there will be shock results and we have to be ready to capitalise on that," he said.

They have played us twice, know the threats that we pose and will make life very difficult

Loovens was withdrawn during the win over Hearts, leaving Josh Thompson and Thomas Rogne as the central defensive partnership.

Mowbray expects a stern test at Pittodrie, adding: "Aberdeen will be prepared for us.

"They have played us twice, know the threats that we pose will make life very difficult for us. They'll have a game-plan to score on the counter-attack.

"So we are expecting a very tough game, but I am sure they are as well."

The Celtic manager added: "It might be different to the side that played against Hearts. It just depends on where they are strong and weak."

Celtic striker Marc Antoine Fortune said the players still believed the could win the title and that Rangers would drop points.

"In the dressing room after the Hearts game, we all said that we can do it and we have to believe it," he said.

"There are 14 games left and we have put them under pressure. When you see the team behind you win and win and you make some mistakes, you start to think about it and it's not good when you think about it."
