Celtic have transferred out-of-favour striker Maciej Zurawski to Greek First Division outfit Larissa for a fee of about 500,000.

The 31-year-old Poland international would have been out of contract with the Scottish champions this summer.

Zurawski, who had been linked with a move to LA Galaxy, signed for Celtic from Wisla Krakow for 2m in 2005.

He became a first-team regular under manager Gordon Strachan but has made just one start this season.

Zurawski scored 30 goals in 73 appearances for Celtic after signing from Wisla Krakow in the summer of 2005.

He notched 20 goals in his first season, but injury hindered him following his return from the 2006 World Cup.

The Poland skipper was keen to move on to get regular football after being warned by international coach Leo Beenhakker that his place in the Euro 2008 squad was in jeopardy.

Zurawski will now attempt to help Larissa, who knocked Blackburn Rovers out of the Uefa Cup, improve on their present 10th spot in the Greek top division.
