Riordan appears to want out of Celtic Park in January |
Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has insisted that forward Derek Riordan is not being forced out of the club. The agent for Riordan, who equalised against St Mirren in a 1-1 draw, has notified clubs that the 24-year-old would be available in January.
But boss Strachan, who was disappointed by his side's performance, said: "He will not be made available here. He will not be forced out of the door.
"We want him here and he doesn't have to go anywhere."
Strachan said that Riordan had been unlucky since arriving from Hibernian because of the form of Aiden McGeady and Shunsuke Nakamura in the battle to fill the lift of Celtic's midfield.
But the manager had brought Riordan and Evander Sno on as second-half substitutes after a poor first half and a breakaway opener from St Mirren's Stephen McGinn.

And they combined to produce an equaliser after 85 minutes.
"Sno and Derek did very well," said Strachan.
"It was a good ball from Sno and Derek deserved his bit of glory.
"Good players have saved us from getting beat."
However, Strachan was disappointed with his team's performance.
"We were lacking in quality - just for this week," he said.
"We usually rely on that to win us games, but it was not there."
