Greg Abbott coy on Tom Taiwo and Adam Clayton future
Chelsea midfielder Tom Taiwo has impressed during his loan spell at Carlisle
Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has revealed negotiations are on-going surrounding extended loan deals for midfielders Tom Taiwo and Adam Clayton.
Talks have been hampered by events at Chelsea and Manchester City, the parent clubs, notably the arrival of new boss Roberto Mancini at the latter.
"Things are not quite straightforward," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"Hopefully I'll be nearer to resolving that situation, I'll probably make an announcement later in the week."
Abbott is also keen to sort out the future of Cameroon striker Vincent Pericard, who has become a vital part of the club since agreeing a short-term move earlier in the season.
And along with Taiwo and Clayton, Abbott believes his 'temporary trio' have been crucial to the recent upturn in form.
"Vincent's situation is on-going, we're hopeful but we have to be patient," Abbott said.
"All you can say is that they've been terrific in the run we've had, so if they give us the same thing after the new year then they're vital to what we're doing.
"But they've been good up to press, and that's why we're seeing them as important parts of the squad."
