Kavanagh injury blow for Carlisle

Carlisle United coach Graham Kavanagh is set to see a specialist over a troublesome shoulder injury.

The 35-year-old was forced to miss Tuesday night's 2-1 friendly defeat by Hull City at Brunton Park.

"Graham will need to see a specialist because we want to find out what is going on in there," Cumbrians manager Greg Abbott said.

"We want to make sure that whatever is causing the pain is cleared up before we let him start doing his work again."

The former Sunderland and Wigan midfielder re-joined the Carlisle squad mid-way through their Colchester training camp last week having recovered from the effects of a virus but was ruled out of the Hull game as a precaution.

"Kav can be worse than a young 18-year-old in that he wants to be involved in everything," Abbott said.

"He wants to play in every game if he can and he would play through every injury if we let him."
