Klukowski represented the England universities side
Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has ended his interest in striker Yan Klukowski after a week's trial.
Speaking after Saturday's 3-1 win at Workington, Abbott said the ex-England students international, 21, failed to impress despite scoring twice.
"There were two terrific finishes but apart from that he didn't do much more," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"I have to think: 'Is he better than Gary Madine?', and on that showing he might struggle to get to that level."
Klukowski, who grew up in Chippenham near Bath, played for Bath City before moving to the United States to play college football.
Meanwhile Abbott had kinder words for Scotland international Scott Dobie, who returned to Brunton Park midway through the 2007-08 season but endured a difficult time last term.
Dobie, 30, figured in a variety of roles across the forward line last season, including a large part spent on the right flank, and Abbott believes the Workington-born striker can play a key role in his side next season.
"It's a fight for places, what I am asking for is people to turn in performances and stake their claims," he said.
"And Scott Dobie, given what he did at the end of last season and what's he done pre-season hasn't done himself any harm."
