Abbott suffered his first defeat as caretaker by Millwall on Tuesday
Carlisle United caretaker boss Greg Abbott is hoping to add at least one new face to his squad ahead of Thursday's loan transfer deadline.
Abbott told BBC Radio Cumbria: "It's busy in that sense. We'd like to get one or possibly two in if we can."
Abbott also indicated that some of his players will be available for loan moves out of Brunton Park.
"Maybe one or two of our fringe players can get themselves fixed up elsewhere as well."
Abbott released midfielder Shaun Vipond last week while winger Jennison Myrie-Williams returned to Bristol City at the end of his two-month loan spell.
The Cumbrians currently have five players in on loan in Graham Kavanagh and Michael Liddle from Sunderland, goalkeeper Tim Krul from Newcastle along with Michael Bridges and John Welsh from Hull City.
"We've got plenty of people we'd like to bring in if it is right," Abbott said.
"I'd hope that we can shake things up a little bit."
Carlisle suffered their seventh consecutive away defeat in League One on Tuesday as Tresor Kandol's 89th-minute goal gave Millwall a 1-0 win at the New Den.
The defeat was the Cumbrians' first since Abbott took temporary charge following the departure of John Ward last month.
