Carlisle goalkeeper Ben Williams has said his new side are ready for Friday's friendly with Kendal Town.
Williams joined from Crewe in June and, having trained with his new team-mates, he is looking forward to making his first appearance for the club.
"Everyone's raring to put a kit on, run out and play 90 minutes or whatever we get," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"With me coming to a new club I'm itching to get back and join in with the lads and prove my point."
With last season's play-off disappointment still fresh in the mind of his team-mates, Williams is determined to help his new side begin the 2008/09 campaign in the best possible manner.
"You want the season to start, to be honest before you know it will be and we'll be in it thick and fast," he said.
"It's something we can look forward to and hopefully we can kick on from last season and get up to the Championship."
