Cardiff City midfielder Riccardo Scimeca has turned down a loan move to Brentford, BBC Sport Wales understands.
The 34-year-old, who is equally comfortable playing in defence, joined the Bluebirds from West Bromwich Albion in January 2006 on a free transfer.
Scimeca has been a stalwart performer when fit but a series of injuries have disrupted his Cardiff career.
Meanwhile, Cardiff have released 19-year-old Polish goalkeeper Erwin Sak in order to "explore other opportunities".
