Ridsdale came close to losing Jones to West Brom in 2007
Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale has issued West Bromwich Albion a hands-off warning over City manager Dave Jones.
Former Southampton and Wolves boss Jones is among the favourites to replace Tony Mowbray, who left the Hawthorns to take over at Celtic.
St Johnstone boss and former Albion player Derek McInnes has also been linked with the vacant post.
"Dave Jones as far as I'm concerned seems to be very happy here," Ridsdale told BBC Wales.
"He tells me he is happy but if any employee, whether they are the manager or players, are unhappy I don't want to keep them.
"He will have to decide if and when the hypothetical question of him going somewhere arises.

"I've had no contact from West Brom or any other club. I don't expect Dave Jones to leave."
Ridsdale admitted in 2007 that Jones almost left the Welsh club to Championship rivals West Brom before Mowbray replaced Bryan Robson.
Jones has wheeled-and-dealed in his four years in the Cardiff hot-seat selling some of his best players such as Aaron Ramsey, Cameron Jerome, Chris Gunter and Glenn Loovens to keep the cash-strapped club, who have estimated debts of £30m, afloat.
Jones was the Championship's manager of the month last October in a season where his Cardiff team almost clinched a play-off place.
But, despite being in the top-six for almost seven months, the Bluebirds lost out in a heart-breaking final 15 minutes of the season.
