Valencia's superstar striker David Villa fired Spain to Euro 2008 victory

Cardiff City have confirmed a pre-season friendly with 2004 Uefa Cup winners and Spanish giants Valencia.

David Villa and co will play at Cardiff City's new stadium on 1 August, ten days after Scottish Premier League leaders Celtic open the £38m arena.

The six-time La Liga champions is set to be the first foreign team to play at the new 27,000-capacity ground.

The Championship high-fliers will share their new stadium with the Cardiff Blues rugby region.
