The Millennium Stadium is the third biggest capacity sports arena in the UK
Cardiff City will not switch their lucrative FA Cup fourth-round clash with Arsenal from Ninian Park to the bigger Millennium Stadium nearby.
Last year's FA Cup finalists have released a statement saying they will not move from their "spiritual home".
Cardiff could have cashed in at the 74,000-capacity Millennium Stadium but rules state that clubs cannot switch FA Cup games for financial incentives.
Cup ties can only be moved because of safety or security concerns.
A Football Association spokesman confirmed to BBC Sport: "The FA Cup rules only permit a change of venue if the home team's ground is deemed to be unsuitable for safety and security reasons."
The Millennium Stadium, home to the FA Cup final for six years between 2001 and 2006, is less than two miles down the road from Cardiff's old Ninian Park ground.
Wales' national stadium holds 52,000 more fans than Ninian Park and if Cardiff were allowed to move the Arsenal tie, set for the weekend of 24 January, it would generate more income for the Championship club.
But, regardless, the tie cannot be moved for just revenue reasons under FA rules.
The Cardiff statement said: "Ninian Park is our spiritual home and all home fixtures will be carried out at this venue."
The Arsenal tie could be the last FA Cup game at Ninian Park as the Bluebirds will be moving to their new £30m stadium next season.
