Miguel Comminges is out of contract with Swindon this summer
Miguel Comminges has told Swindon Town that he intends to sign for Cardiff.
The French right-back, 26, who was born in Guadeloupe, is out of contract this summer and has turned down the offer of a new deal at the County Ground.
Comminges, who has just picked up the Supporters Club's Player of the Year award, joined Swindon from French Ligue 2 side Stade de Reims last July.
However Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale said: "We've not had any conversation with Swindon Town or the player."
But on Thursday Swindon chief executive Nick Watkins confirmed to BBC Radio Wiltshire that Comminges has told the Robins he is set to leave them.
"I got a call late Wednesday evening from [Swindon manager] Maurice Malpas to alert me to the fact that Miguel, after much deliberation, has decided to go to Cardiff," Watkins said.
"It's a great disappointment for us all to lose a player of his quality and standard, but he feels an opportunity in the Championship is too good to resist.
"He had a fabulous offer to stay, we did everything we could within our power to encourage him to stay with the club, but in the end the lure of the Championship was too great."
Comminges is expected to leave the County Ground after Saturday's final game of the season against Millwall and should then sign for the Bluebirds on 1 July.
