Cambridge United midfielder Adam Miller is set for a six-month lay-off after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his ankle.
The 28-year-old damaged ligaments in the 2-0 win over Eastbourne in August.
Miller has made five starts for the U's in the Blue Square Bet Premier since arriving from Gillingham in the summer.
The former Ipswich trainee was braced for a long spell on the sidelines but boss Martin Ling is not expected to dip into the loan market for a replacement.
