Holroyd has scored 10 goals in 38 league appearances for the U's this season
Cambridge United have exercised the option to extend the contract of striker Chris Holroyd for next season.
The 22-year-old joined the U's on a free transfer last August after his contract at Chester City was terminated by mutual consent.
U's boss Gary Brabin told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'm delighted with Chris and I think there's a lot more to come from him.
"It was an easy decision to make as we certainly wanted Chris on board."
The U's have also offered a contract to Lee Phillips who joined the club on a short-term deal at the start of March.
However chairman George Rolls has ruled out a permanent move for Scott Rendell.
"We couldn't afford to pay Peterborough United a fee for Scott and his wages," he said.
"So unfortunately that's the end of Scott Rendell at the Abbey, but we've got Danny Crow and Mark Beesley, Chris Holroyd has signed up for next year and we've offered terms to Lee Phillips."
The club have also confirmed that loanee Jai Reason has been offered terms for next year after being released by Ipswich.
Daryl McMahon and Phil Bolland are both out of contract, but are yet to be spoken to whilst Jordan Collins and Craig Bussens have both been released.
