Ainge makes Cambridge loan move

Cambridge United

Cambridge United have completed a late move on loan transfer deadline day by bringing in Bradford City defender Simon Ainge.

The 21-year-old will stay at the Abbey until the end of the season, having made just one appearance for League Two Bradford this season.

A product of the Bantams academy, Ainge spent time on loan at Halifax in 2008.

He will compete with Wayne Hatswell, Phil Bolland and Josh Coulson was a place in the U's first 11.

Meanwhile, midfielder Darren Quinton is leaving Cambridge United after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 22-year-old ruptured a cruciate knee ligament in October 2007 and has only made one appearance this season.
