Carden has not scored since 2006 when he was at Burton
Cambridge United captain Paul Carden has praised his team-mates' "work ethic" and believes it is behind their recent run of four clean sheets.
The 29-year-old, who is also assistant manager at the club, says a recent run of 1-0 wins is not down to luck.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "The work ethic amongst the squad is the main factor for the clean sheets.
"The lads work hard and stop the other teams playing, and we're doing OK in that department."
However, Carden admitted there was still much room for improvement with the side scoring just three goals in their last four matches.
He said: "We're pleased, but we're not 100% delighted with everything because every time you play, you can play better."
Carden has targeted a repeat of their FA Cup run of last season, when they were knocked out at the third round stage by Championship side Wolverhampton.
The U's start their cup campaign against Boston United next week in the fourth qualifying round.
