Cambridge United have appointed Alan Lewer as their new assistant manager. Lewer, 51, has previously assisted at Crawley, Chester, Doncaster and Boston as well as managing Nuneaton Borough, Telford and Forest Green Rovers.
He told the club's website: "Cambridge has a fantastic fanbase. The potential is here.
"I feel that the club is ready to go back into the Football League, and if we do get out of the conference I think we can kick on further again."
