Brayford joined Crewe from Burton in September 2008
Crewe Alex defender John Brayford says he is delighted by his former club Burton Albion winning promotion to the Football League.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's brilliant for them to get promoted.
"The ship's been steady for about 10 years there and it's been a slow progression. I had good days there and it's good to see them doing well."
"The set-up is geared for the Football League. They've got a new stadium and the training facilities are great."
Brayford, who left the Brewers in September to join the Alex for around £80,000, added: "[Ex-Burton boss] Nigel Clough was great for the club. Everything has gone through him, and it's just a shame for him that he wasn't there at the end.
"But he's one of the main reasons why Burton are going to be in the Football League next season."
Burton stumbled over the finishing line on the final day of the season, pipping Cambridge by just two points, having led the table by 18 points at one stage.
The club are to parade the Blue Square Premier trophy during an open top bus tour and a civic reception in the town on Saturday.
The bus will leave the Town Hall at 1100 BST, and will reach the Pirelli Stadium just before noon.
Brayford's current club, Crewe, are likely to be relegated to League Two on Saturday, meaning the 21-year-old could be set for a quick reunion with his former team-mates.
