Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough hopes to persuade former Derby County striker Malcolm Christie to join the Brewers. The 28-year-old striker is currently without a club after his summer release from Middlesbrough and failing to earn a contract at Hull City in November.
Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "We're going to get in touch in the next few days and see what his situation is.
"He could make that difference. It's a long shot but you never know and we'll see what he's got to say."
Clough added: "But if he's available, wants to drop down to our level and is fit enough we're not sure."

Christie began at Nuneaton before a move to Derby in October 1998 and then an injury-hit 3m move to Boro.
Following his release by Boro this summer, the former England Under-21 striker discussed terms with Stoke City during the close season before his unsuccessful trial period at Hull.
But Clough said he is not looking to make drastic changes during the transfer window.
"It's all quiet and everyone is is fully fit," Clough said. "It would have to be something that little bit different because the squad is playing very well at the moment."
